A little over a year ago I started taking piano lessons. I last took them when I was ten, so it's been awhile. I am terrible at it, and my brain and fingers are maddeningly slow, but I really love it. The piece I've been working on is a Mozart sonata (#16 in C) and it is beautiful. Well, it's not beautiful when I play it, but you know what I mean.
Another thing I love is the movie Groundhog Day. It is a profound movie in many ways. I watched it again recently, because I am writing a new book that is partly inspired by it. And then I watched it another time, really slowly. I was trying to figure out where the turning point of the story occurs--the moment when Phil (Bill Murray) begins his transformation from a selfish, hedonistic, misanthrope into a person capable of loving and being loved. I kept starting and stopping the movie, trying to figure it out. And then I did. Or at least I think I did. I think it's the moment when he's sitting in the diner and is struck by a certain beautiful piece of piano music playing on the radio. And guess what that piece is? Mozart's Sonata #16 in C. The very piece I've been playing over and over for weeks. I thought that was a nice confluence of things I happen to love.

Is this book going to be a young adult or adult novel?
Mozart simply is amazing.

Hi Ann,
I'm so happy to see you blogging again. I check in at least once a week, hoping to find information about upcoming books you have. I am a huge fan of all your novels, in partictular The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, probably because I grew up right along with those girls. I know you said earlier you plan to write a 5th novel, and I hope that's still the case, because I miss reading about Lena, Tibs, Bridget, and Carmen so much and would be thrilled to learn what they're doing with their lives!
ALL of your books are amazing! I REALLY hope that you write a 5th sisterhood of the traveling pants book! You could be sure that I would buy it and read it. (many many times!) I haven't gotten to read 3 willows yet, but I'm buying it tomorrow!
The books you write are the best your books and books by stephanie meyer are my favz write now!!!!!!!
i can't wait to read the new book you are writing about that movie! please respond to my email! i LOVE your books!
i can't wait to buy your latest book...coz here in the philippines i can only buy it online or read it in the library...i just want my own, and i'm still waiting for its release
Ann,
I love your books! They're up on my list of favorites right next to the Harry Potter books, the Twilight Saga, the Lightning Theif series, The City of Ember, and Gone With The Wind. I've read all of your books and they are soooo good!! I can't wait for your next one except I feel like the Groundhog Day theme is overused a little bit... I think the Mozart thing is really clever though and it will be cool if you use it in your next novel. I totally know how you feel about the piano (I last played when I was 8 years old and now I'm trying it again... I'm pretty bad). In conclusion, I think you're an amazing author and I really enjoy the way you intertwine your plots briefly within the books (namely The 3 Willows).
Hi! I just wanted to say that your books really inspired me to spend more time with my friends... Your books seem to capture the esence of what's really important in life, and I thank you for sharing it.
Hello, Ann! I'm 11 years old, and I just read your book, "3 Willows". It's amazing. I'm a writer myself. I've written about 17, or 18 pages of my current book I'm writing, and I started it about a month ago. While your books are more realistic fiction, mine tend to be fiction and fantasy. You know, you're really lucky. I hope my email brightens up your day!!;-)
Hi Ann! I just finished 3 Willows today! It was really good and I really enjoyed it. I just loved the ending! Are you going to write more about them anytime soon? Are you going to write another book about the original Sisterhood? When is your next book coming out? PLEASE write another blog entry so you can answer these questions. I'm just dying to know!
~Emily~
P.S. I would really love it if you wrote another book on the orignial Sisterhood. I miss Lena, Carmen, Bridget and Tibby, and I realized that I missed them a lot when they made little appearences in 3 Willows.
Hello Ann. I am on my 2nd time reading 3 Willows. I love it so much. I just wanted to tell you that I really hope you write another book in that series. I also hope you make movies for Girls in Pants and Forever in Blue.
Thank you for giving your gift of writing to us!
Ann,
I have read all of your books and am really excited to hear that you are in the process of writing another. I am also curious to know if it will be an adult or young adult book? The sisterhood series is one of my favorites, and I loved "The Last Summer of You & Me" as well (so either way i'll be happy). :)
Ironic, I played piano very intermediately when I was little and I quit for god knows what reason and years and years later i have had a sudden interest in taking lessons again. I was bored with the piano when i was young but now i'm just infatuated with the music it makes and its elegance. Good luck and I hope you get better music is a great gift to possess.
Hello Ann,
I used to play the piano, but now I play guitar. Piano is amazing, but I still prefer guitar even though the skin on my fingers peel. Haha.
Is there going to be a movie for your book "The Last Summer (of you and me)"?
Dear Ann,
I really want to know what Kostos meant by someday in the 4th book in the sisterhood! It's been driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did he mean someday we will be together or someday we will fall in love? And are you going to make another book in the sisterhood? I really hope so!!!!!!!!!
Sincerly a huge fan,
Allison

Anne
ps- isn't it cool that we have the same name? writing is my favorite thing to do, and i try to come to this site everyday
Hi I just want to tell you that I have read 3 willows as it has just come to my school. I have borrowed it over the term 3 to 4 holidays. I really enjoyed it and hope I can read the next book. The thing is I never really figured out who was which out of Polly and Jo. From on the front comver it looks like the girl on the right is Polly.
Over about 5 years I have learnt the piano. From Michael Jackson to Beetoven, from Beetoven to St.Kilda theme song. I have learnt heaps over the years and are going in for EXAMS. I really hope you enjoy playing it as in my free time I like to go over to it and start playing.
If I were one of the Gals I would have to be Ama. I really have to have my hair in shape or I would scream.
From youe #1 fan
Alex (Alexandra)
P.S I would love to read some other books from the sisterhood series.
I absolutley love The Last Summer. It was an amazing book. I often found myself wanting to be Alice. There were so many parts in there all women want to happen to them at some point in there life.
If there are other books such as this one that Ann has wrote, I would love read them.
Oh my god. I really liked Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, 3 Willows, and The Last Summer (of you & me). That one's more adulty...it was good anyway!
Sydney really liked your books. Keep on a writin! =D
From, Sydney.
Keep up that Inspiration.
I have started reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series for a school project. I started to really enjoy it. I love how there are four different characters, but yet they are still so close no matter what. I also love how how there is at least one charecter that everyone can relate to. I think I'm a little bit like Bridget and Carmen. How about you??
Hi there guys, every human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but never see or feel those of the future
I am in my 30's and taking piano for the first time...about 2 and 1/2 years now. It is maddening to not be able to make it sound the way i want and to make mistakes! my teacher/ friend says i'm too much of a perfectionist.... Really enjoy your books...i read the Sisterhood series as an adult and was fascinated by the mother/daughter relationships. Looking forward to your next book!
